RECOMMANDED FOR:

Any person required to understand, carry out or validate a First Article Inspection (FAI) or a PPAP in the Aeronautical sector. Anyone with a product quality, monitoring and/or supplier development mission.

 

CONTEXT:

First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP must be carried out for all new products/processes and updated when any design or production changes are made, in accordance with EN9102 and EN9145 requirements for APQP/PPAP.

The engine manufacturers’ supply chain has established reference manuals (RM), in particular the RM 13102 concerning the First Article Inspection, and the RM 13145 for the APQP and PPAP.

In this context the FAI or PPAP must be produced, updated and validated.

 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Know the EN9102 requirements on FAI.
  • Know how to complete or check a FAI.
  • Know the specific requirements of engine manufacturers in accordance with the reference manual RM 13102.
  • Be familiar with the EN9145 requirements for carrying out a PPAP.
  • Know the specific requirements of engine manufacturers for the APQP and PPAP, in accordance with the reference manual RM 13145.
  • Know how to complete or check/validate a PPAP.

 

PREREQUISITES:

Experience in the aerospace industry in product development, customer or supplier quality.

 

SPECIFIC OPERATING CONDITIONS FOR REMOTE SESSIONS:

  • Have a PC with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: background screens are available on Zoom or Teams to blur or hide the rear view.
  • Have a good Internet connection, to be tested before the session.
  • Be installed in a quiet, isolated place ; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams ; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
  • Participants from the same organization should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at his/ her own desk, to avoid any side discussions during the session. Virtual sub-groups will be specially created for the exercises, which will also enable mixed groups.
    • Remote qualification/certification exams must be taken with camera and microphone open. We may also need to check that you are alone in the room.
    • Please connect 5 minutes before the start of the session.

 

TRAINING METHOD:

The training method combines presentations and exercises based on examples or case studies from the aerospace industry. In each case, trainees are invited to take part in role-playing and group work. The trainer advises each trainee on his/her practices.
