Packaging Engineer
Project based position for approximately
months (1099 Contract)
TRIGO Global Quality Solutions is seeking to fill 1099 Contract Packaging Engineer in Fremont, CA
What You'll Do:
- Develop packaging standards and benchmarks throughout the global products organization
- Partner with Engineering to incorporate logistics constraints in product design and implement logistics signoff in the product development process
- Provide frequent, close direction to manufacturing and distribution management, internal facility personnel and to third party service providers on the proper packaging and handling of Building Efficiencies products
- Drive ongoing cost reduction/containment and damage reduction activity to ensure competitive cost position
- Research and evaluate alternative packaging, racking, and other technologies to improve the safety, performance, and pack density understand requirements for both domestics shipping and international shipping, identify logistics constraints and opportunities
- Actively monitors freight damages globally and defines corrective action processes to minimize future problems
- Maximize pack density and cube optimization
- Identify opportunities to improve truck or container utilization and develops appropriate KPI's to measure performance
Skills:
- Candidates must have a BS/MS in Packaging or equivalent work experience
- At least 3+ years of package development experience with developing packaging standards and benchmarks throughout the global products organization
- Engineer must be able to support and/or manage package development of multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidate should have familiarity with small to large packaging solutions
- Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) rules and regulations
- Demonstrated knowledge of handling medium to large sized custom manufactured equipment for van, flatbed, LTL, ocean, and/or airfreight transport
