Description

The CQI-17 (Soldering System Assessment) is a standard developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group to assess and improve the control of soldering processes, particularly those used in the automotive industry such as wave soldering, reflow soldering, selective soldering, and manual soldering operations.

In accordance with the IATF 16949 and within the framework of specific customer requirements, this standard applies to all suppliers in the automotive sector that use soldering processes in the manufacture of their products, especially for electronic assemblies.

The aim of the CQI-17 assessment is to reduce the risk of failure associated with soldering processes, ensure the reliability, electrical integrity, and mechanical strength of soldered joints, and guarantee their compliance with the quality, safety, and performance requirements expected by automotive manufacturers.

This standard is part of a strategy for continuous improvement of special processes. It provides a structured framework enabling organizations to carry out self-assessments across several key areas: control of soldering processes, equipment capability and maintenance, management of critical parameters (such as temperature profiles, flux application, and solder quality), qualification and competence of personnel, and effectiveness of inspection and testing systems.

You want to understand the requirements of the CQI-17 manual and self-assess your soldering processes or take a critical look at the self-assessments of your soldering suppliers.

You want to develop an action plan to ensure compliance with CQI-17.

  • Understand the customer specific requirements who require the CQI-17.
  • Discover the contents of the CQI-17 manual (self-assessment tables, product audit, etc.).
  • Identify the key points of the manual.
  • Learn how to use the self-assessment questionnaire from the CQI-17 manual through a self-assessment on field.
  • Develop an action plan for implementing the manual.
  • Quality Engineers,
  • Process/Manufacturing Engineers or technical experts,
  • Internal Auditors,
  • Production Supervisors,
  • Specialists involved in the soldering

The teaching method alternates between theoretical sequences on the CQI-17 requirements and application sequences through exercises, and practical self-assessment exercise in the field.

Knowledge test (Multi Choice Questions)
