Component Rework

Component rework is requested and conducted during the production of a vehicle, prior it reaches final assembly. It usually occurs at the OEM plant, directly on the production line or before parts delivery to the line. Sometimes at some point when vehicles are on their way to the dealers (warehouse, distribution area).

 

There are different type of component rework processes according to the complexity of the service ranging from visual (identification) to mechanical (rework with specific tools) and electronic (software reflash).

 

Component rework services can be required in many cases and its purpose may vary according to the nature of the service:

 

  • Start of new car production (new part production)
  • OEM – Supplier alignment (OEM requested design doesn’t match with the supplied product)
  • Complex parts: when a single component has to be replaced
  • Logistic problem: parts may damage on their way to the OEM
