Supplier Development & Crisis Management: Restoring Safe, Built-to-Last Supply Chains

As suppliers and OEMs, you may face production, quality and delivery challenges, especially at the time of a launch and during production series. Delivering parts on time or on quality may be difficult - putting a new vehicle launch at risk. You might also need to produce at a higher rate and more optimally, or in the worst cases, suffer a systemic crisis. All such situations can lead to OEM escalations, with high consequences in terms of cost and future business. TRIGO’s team of industrial veterans analyze the situation on the shop floor and deliver a swift and durable exit from supplier crisis situations, in compliance with the requirements of the most demanding OEMs, across the globe.

Delivering Supplier Crisis Resolution & OEM De-Escalation

  • A Team of Industry Experts to Help You to Create Stability Within your Supply Chain

In challenging times, nothing beats experience. We send a team of battle-tested experts directly into the supplier plant’s shop floor, where they analyze the situation, propose actions and ensure their implementation. Our global infrastructure enables swift deployment of internationally experienced crisis experts, combined with teams of local engineers and commodity or technical experts, as appropriate.

  • Working Hands On with the Local Plant’s Team on the Shop Floor & Every Level of the Organization

From delivery or quality related issues to a systemic crisis, every type of challenge is best addressed from inside the plant and in full collaboration with its teams. It’s in our DNA to run every mission from inside the plant and to empower the plant’s teams to own the improvement plan. Meanwhile, we ensure quick and measurable results by providing constant insights and support to the plant’s teams until they are successful. Our teams are hands-on experts with a proven pedigree of delivery.

  • Using Standardized Proven Methods & Mastering OEM-Specific Requirements

Standard methods have proven their effectiveness at solving various crisis situations. We go beyond mastering basic methods. Our teams deploy a proprietary crisis resolution toolkit which is adapted to OEM-specific methods and processes every time as needed. In an OEM escalation, strong communication between the supplier and its OEM customer is vital. With long experience across the supply base of multiple OEMs worldwide, we will not only adapt to OEM-specific requirements but also facilitate communication with the OEM’s teams until the mission is complete.

  • For Delivery of Concrete, Measurable & Sustainable Results

Success cannot be declared, only implemented and measured. Our Supplier development and crisis management projects will always implement a set of measurable metrics, agreed beforehand with the plant and, as applicable, with its OEM customer. In their many interventions, our teams have consistently delivered concrete, measurable improvements, resulting in crisis (and profit) recovery and OEM de-escalations.

Ben Van Eeckaute,Ex-VP Supplier Quality & Development at Stellantis Management

During my career as Supplier Quality Executive at major OEMs, I’ve worked with TRIGO for many years, as my main service provider for Supplier Development and Crisis Management. Their greatest strength is the standardized approach, starting from a comprehensive deep-dive on systemic weaknesses, in order to create a solid and detailed action plan for recovery. There is a huge network including all appropriate skillsets globally to drive improvement at the supply base. It is now a privilege for me to be able to contribute at TRIGO myself, with my experience, so the voice of the customer is embedded in the strategy.

Paul Wingrave,Ex-Supplier Technical Assistance Director at Ford Motor Company

Having spent most of my working life in leadership roles in a major automotive OEM, I have worked with various service providers. It is a real leap of faith for an OEM to delegate supplier improvement activities to a third party and, as such, trust and confidence is paramount. I have always found TRIGO to be totally honest, trustworthy and a safe pair of hands in this regard. The strength of their network is outstanding, their standardized approach guarantees results and their reactivity can be relied upon.
This is why I jumped at the opportunity to work closely with the steering team of TRIGO’s Supplier Performance and Crisis Management. My objective? To further align direction with that of the major OEMs and develop further the services they can provide

Real World Results

  • From Weekly Line Stoppages to Zero Backlog in 4 Months

While transitioning to series production, a plant faced weekly line stoppages due to leadership gaps, HR issues, language barriers, and systemic problems. We supported the plant by addressing human resource management, industrial planning, and technical support in tooling and ultrasonic welding. Our team managed the mold shop, optimized tooling processes, removed bottlenecks, and implemented a build-to-plan culture. In six months, the plant de-escalated from Level 3 to Level 1, achieving zero backlog by the end of the mission.

  • Ongoing Support At A Large Tier 1 Supplier In Hungary, Moving From 1500+ Incomplete "Yard Cars" To Zero Shortages In 3 Months

A supplier caused scheduling issues and rework due to incomplete cars, escalating from level 2 to 3 because of paint quality problems and supply shortages. They failed to follow quality improvement plans initiated 6 months prior. A business hold was implemented, raising future capacity concerns for OEM, who needs to increase load at the Tier 1 site. TRIGO teams improved daily communication, reducing OEM calls from 1.5 hours daily to 30 minutes twice a week. Better coordination allowed early issue prediction, reducing paint scrap and damage, and filling vacant positions with TRIGO experts.

  • Quality Crisis & OEM Escalations Masterclass in Morocco

The team led by Neil Endley, Global Director for Consulting & Engineering services at TRIGO, organized a high-visibility symposium workshop in Morocco in December 2024. The workshop, endorsed by Ford and Stellantis, was well received by the 61 Tier 1 Quality Directors and Plant Managers who attended. Similar events are to be organized in Turkey and Mexico this year.
