Description

The CQI-15 (Welding System Assessment) is a standard developed by the Automotive Industry Action Group to assess and improve the control of welding processes, particularly those used in the automotive industry such as resistance welding, arc welding, laser welding, and other fusion or solid-state joining processes.

In accordance with the IATF 16949 and within the framework of specific customer requirements, this standard applies to all suppliers in the automotive sector that use welding processes in the manufacture of their products.

The aim of the CQI-15 assessment is to reduce the risk of failure associated with welding processes, ensure the strength, integrity, and reliability of welded joints, and guarantee their compliance with the quality, safety, and performance requirements expected by automotive manufacturers.

This standard is part of a strategy for continuous improvement of special processes. It provides a structured framework enabling organizations to carry out self-assessments across several key areas: control of welding processes, equipment capability and maintenance, management of critical welding parameters, qualification and competence of personnel, and effectiveness of monitoring and inspection systems.

You wish to familiarize yourself with the requirements and best practices of CQI-15, as well as the self-assessment guidelines, in order to implement improvement measures aimed at ensuring the quality, robustness, and performance of welded assemblies in your products.

  • To provide a structured understanding of CQI-15 requirements and assessment methodology
  • To enable participants to interpret and apply CQI-15 criteria in welding processes
  • To develop the ability to identify nonconformities and gaps in process control
  • To support preparation for internal and external CQI-15 assessments
  • To strengthen awareness of process control, risk management, and continuous improvement
  • Quality Engineers,
  • Process/Manufacturing Engineers or technical experts,
  • Internal Auditors,
  • Production Supervisors,
  • Welding Process Specialists

The teaching method alternates between theoretical sequences on the CQI-15 requirements and application sequences through a case study on the technical aspects.
