CQI-8 Layered Process Audit (LPA) is a structured shop-floor audit approach based on the AIAG standard and required by several OEMs, including Stellantis and General Motors.
Its purpose is to ensure compliance of critical processes by engaging multiple levels of management in regular audits, based on short, frequent, and standardised checks performed directly on the shop floor. This method allows for early detection of deviations and reinforces operational discipline.
LPA also supports the development of a continuous improvement culture and strengthens team accountability across the organisation.
With this approach, you aim to:
- Enhance compliance with internal standards
- Reduce quality issues and prevent customer complaints
- Fulfil customer requirements related to LPA
- Increase management involvement in monitoring and enforcing standards
