Description

You want your managers to guarantee the strategic objectives achieved through Six Sigma projects and to fully understand their role as Six Sigma project champions:

  • Upstream, to identify opportunities for Six Sigma projects, define the exact scope of each project in a formal charter, and identify the resources needed to ensure the success of Six Sigma projects.
  • Throughout the project, to validate the transition from milestones to DMAIC steps, and to support the Six Sigma teams.
  • Afterwards, to verify the sustainability of the results and identify other opportunities for related Six Sigma projects.
  • Gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of the Six Sigma methodology.

  • Clarify your role in relation to the management committee and Six Sigma project teams.

  • Learn how to identify and select Six Sigma projects that create high business value.

  • Know how to define a Six Sigma project charter, including objectives, goals, resources, supports, and constraints.

  • Be able to monitor, assess, and support teams throughout the execution of their Six Sigma projects.

  • Learn how to conduct progress reviews with Six Sigma teams at each DMAIC milestone.

  • Understand your responsibilities once a Six Sigma project has been completed.

Managers assigned as Champions or Sponsors of a 6 Sigma project.

The principles are learned through active teaching and teamwork.

  • Have a PC with a microphone, a webcam and, if possible, a headset for greater comfort. Note: background screens are available on Zoom or Teams to blur or hide the rear view.
  • Have a good Internet connection, to be tested before the session.
  • Be installed in a quiet, isolated place; set yourself to “unavailable” status on Teams; close your email access, and mute your phone, so as not to be disturbed during the session.
  • Participants from the same organization should not be grouped together in the same room, but each at his/ her own desk, to avoid any side discussions during the session. Virtual sub-groups will be specially created for the exercises, which will also enable mixed groups.
  • Remote qualification/certification exams must be taken with webcam and microphone open. We may also need to check that you are alone in the room.
  • Please connect 5 minutes before the start of the session.

DAY 1 – Introduction to Six Sigma

Fundamentals of Six Sigma

  • Origins and core principles of the Six Sigma methodology

  • The three pillars underpinning the Six Sigma approach

  • Performance measurement systems: DPMO and sigma levels

  • Expected business benefits (QCD, customer satisfaction) illustrated with industrial examples

  • Linking strategy to the deployment of Six Sigma projects

Identifying and Structuring Projects

  • Identification of potential Six Sigma project opportunities

  • Selection of priority projects based on defined criteria, including the concept of EVA (Economic Value Added)

  • Structuring key projects: scope definition, project charter, stakeholders, and benefit/risk analysis

  • Project launch and communication strategy

Six Sigma Teams and Governance

  • Key roles within Six Sigma: Champion, Black Belt, Green Belt, Yellow Belt

  • Team building based on complementary profiles (Belbin Test)

  • Team operating rules and ways of working

Governance and Change Management

  • Management rituals and tools: reviews, steering committees, milestones

  • Managing project constraints, arbitrations, and trade-offs

  • Change management: handling resistance to change and addressing human factors

DAY 2 – Understanding DMAIC (Overview)

The DMAIC Methodology

For each phase of the DMAIC cycle (Define – Measure – Analyse – Improve – Control):

  • Objectives of the phase

  • Main tools used at each stage (overview without detailed application)

  • Expected deliverables and critical review points, including Champion milestone questions

  • Risks associated with improper execution of each phase

DAY 3 – DMAIC in Practice (Improve & Control Phases)

Post-Project Sustainability

  • Post-project actions and sustainability of results

  • Validation and monitoring of financial gains over a one-year period

  • Capitalisation of lessons learned and deployment across other projects

Training Closure

  • In-house sessions: individual participant commitment in the role of Champion
